TJ WARD MOVIE BLOG: THE SUPERHERO WHO COULD PLAY DB

Anyone who watched us play the Giants on Sunday probably noticed something different about me. I was playing with a cast on my right arm, because I broke my thumb in the Thursday night game against Baltimore.

It was pretty tough to get through the game, but you do what you got to do.

I was coming off of surgery, from just nine days before. The doctors secured the broken bone with nine screws and a plate, and I'll be wearing the cast for awhile.

The cast doesn't completely cover my hand, but I don't have use of my thumb, so I can't grab.

It was broken on our second defensive series of the game against Baltimore. Torrey Smith was carrying the ball on a reverse and when I came in to make the tackle his knee hit my thumb and broke it. But I stayed in the game for all 82 defensive snaps.

Everyone on the Browns is working hard like that, trying to get our first win. We've had some key players out with injuries, but we're going to bounce back from this tough start. There's still a long season ahead and the team truly believes that once we get that first win we'll knock off a few in a row.

I think this is the week we're going to get it. We're playing Cincinnati at home, and we really want to get the first win in front of our fans.

Now then, my take on movies for this week:

Someone asked me which superhero I thought would make the best NFL safety, and I'm going with Thor, from "The Avengers." Here are my five reasons for picking the crown prince of Asgard.

1) First off, I chose him because he can fly. One of the best qualities a superhero can have is the ability to fly, and all of us safeties wish we could, too.

2) Because he's strong. He has tremendous strength, the strength of a god, which he is on Asgard.

3) He wields a hammer, and as a defensive back you have to be able to lay the hammer down. You have to be able to hit and be physical.

4) Because he has long hair.

5) Because my real first name is Terrell, and in some languages the origin of that name comes from Thor.

The Cleveland Browns DB is a movie buff whose reviews of current films and cinema classics appear in his "What 2 Watch" Blog. The 5-10, 200-pound Ward made it to the NFL despite being a walk-on at Oregon, where he established his reputation as a hard hitter. In 2010 he led the Browns with 105 tackles, which also were the most by any NFL rookie. In high school in California, he played for the De La Salle team that set a national record with 151 consecutive victories.
